God, the Artist

God, the Artist
God, the Artist,
hunches over His ancient desk
and wets His paintbrush.
He selects colors that are
kindness, strength, and generosity,
and fills the paper with vivid strokes -
this year's line of autumn foliage.
He scribbles notes in the margins
about how the moon will strike
the pale bodies of the sycamores
on October 23rd.
He adds a leaf here,
a dewdrop there,
rotates the paper,
scratches His beard.
After countless hours
of love-laden labor,
He sits back and chuckles.
It is good.
When I think of God as Creator, I often envision Him as an old-fashioned toymaker (something like this). This past weekend I was taking a walk and marveling over the fall colors, and that visual popped into my head again. All at once, I felt inspired to write a poem about "God, the Artist".
This poem isn't meant to be remotely literal. It's just my best attempt to describe Creator God using words and imagery we often associate with human artistry. I hope you enjoy it - I know I loved writing it.
On another note, my mom just came out with her first song, "Anybody Else"! It's currently only on YouTube, but tomorrow it should be available on other music streaming platforms as well. My mom is one of my heroes, and I'm so proud of her. Please check out this amazing song!

Praying for you this week, friends!
“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
- Revelation 4:11(NIV)
How beautiful and whimsical. I love this one, Abbi.
And I’m ever so humbled and proud to be your momma. 🥹🤍
