Moving into 2023, I want to not only share my own thoughts and poetry, but also spotlight art that has inspired me. I know I've already done this somewhat, but I plan to make it a more central aspect of the blog.

I realize I've been focusing a lot on the subjects of grief and pain lately, so this week I want to share something that (hopefully) feels a little lighter. If you're not familiar with Jason Upton, he's an incredibly deep singer/songwriter, and his music is very special to my family and me. He's released dozens of beautiful songs, and I had trouble deciding which one to post. However, as I read the lyrics for this one, they really resonated with me.

Hope this blesses you, friends! Praying you have a great week. :)

Home To Me

VERSE 1

Like an unborn baby

In a mother's womb

Before my lungs could breathe

I was alive in you

Before my eyes were open

Before my tongue could speak

Before the bond was broken

between you and me

You were home to me

CHORUS

You are home

Home to me

You are patient and kind

You are peace

Peace to me

Never failing

VERSE 2

Like a house out in the country

Like a boat out on the sea

Like a river going somewhere

We all want to be

Like a voice that's so familiar

Like the ground beneath my feet

Like the way I always know

how close you are to me

You are home to me

CHORUS

You are home

Home to me

You are patient and kind

You are peace

Peace to me

Never failing

BRIDGE

You are where we all have come from

You are where we long to go

We have journeyed far from Eden

And we are coming home

Let our eyes be filled with wonder

Let our lives be filled with song

Let the way of Jesus

lead us back where we belong

You are home to me

"The ancient God is home on a foundation of everlasting arms."

- Deuteronomy 33:27 (The Message Bible)
