Renewal

Somehow, you've been renewed,

and yet here you are, kneeling,

piecing together shards

of what once was,

or what you never had begin with.

Praying for a ray of light

to strike the shadowed glass.

But Light doesn't need your permission.

He dances through the blinds,

and bleeds through the cracks in the walls.

Coaxing, illuminating, bearing

the promise of day.

When we give our lives to Jesus, the Bible says we become new creations. And yet this world is still full of pain. At times it can feel impossible to reconcile these two narratives. That's why I find myself clinging to this verse:

"So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever."
