The Most Masterful Symphony
Yesterday I gazed out the kitchen pane
to watch the wind waltz across
the April hills,
tickling the yellow-green buds
of the western woods.
The fields gleamed with every gust,
and I yearned to dwell in their light.
Slipping on my sweater, I ventured out
into gravel and dust and newborn life.
Music flooded my ears,
while my eyes drank in the most
masterful symphony of all.
At the crest of the hill,
I sank to my knees,
overwhelmed by light and sound,
by joy and grace.
I whispered, thank You.
Love kissed my head,
reminding me of all the good things
I’d forgotten.
Recently when I was home alone, I found myself sitting at the kitchen table and gazing out the window. The fields and trees looked so inviting that I decided to go for a walk. I strode out the door, some of my favorite music playing through my earbuds. Peace and joy overwhelmed my soul as I trekked up the gravel road and through the sun-washed hills. Jesus felt so tender and close; it was one of those moments I wished would last forever. At one point, I sank to my knees in gratitude at the beauty of our God.
I'm so grateful for simple memories like this. In the midst of a grim, chaotic world, it's easy to grow discouraged and cynical. However, Jesus is on the move, and His light always overcomes. He can be glimpsed in the big miracles, such as multitudes finding healing and salvation in Him. But He can also be experienced through small blessings, like a golden spring sunset. Maybe He doesn't see such things as "small" at all.
I'm praying for you this week, friends! :)
"Sing a new song to the Lord! Let the whole earth sing to the Lord!"
